Shimming?

Default Shimming?

Just got a stock clutch replacement in my 01 ss t56. Now before you start a notch in your pants I changed slave, master, TO pressure plate, clutch and flywheel. I noticed that it is a bit harder to shift into any gear and the stick does not seem centered. A bit to the right by maybe an inch or sum. I know some people say that the TO has to be shimmed to fit spacing for pressure plate. Is that relevant to this issue ?

How does the clutch pedal feel? Have you tried revving it up in gear with pedal depressed on a level surface to see if the car creeps and the clutch is fully disengaging?

Ohh yeah, clutch pedal feels great. I have not tried that but it's a fresh clutch so maybe it need some breaking in. It's not Impossible shift but it's a bit aggressive. To me it's not big deal but my girlfriend wants to lean stick since she might get a 2011ss. 1 and 2 are a little rough and then 6. 3rd 4th and 5th are ok. In first the car does ten to creep right away

Have you looked over the shifter install? Since it isn't centered and this is something you recognize as different it may be the best place to start. Check it out and keep us posted.

Sounds like the disc is dragging then, which is putting more wear on your synchros in the trans and that's why it's harder to shift though a clutch can't choose which gear it does/doesn't work in...

Okay, I just raved it up to 6 and redlined it in first with the pedal depressed. The car didn't crawl until redline. But it was a very mirror crawl that took me two tries to notice it. It crawled maybe an 1 or two if almost nothing. It seems like it my be a dragging issue. What do you think, it didn't crawl at all before 6 only redline

You said your shifter is off center? That sounds like maybe you put the stick back on wrong. The stick should sit to the left of the shifter if you reversed it that would throw it off center. And if your failing the rev test that means your clutch isn't fully disengaging. You prob need to bleed your hydraulics a little better to fix that. A stock replacement clutch shouldn't ever need a shim. But for peace of mind you should have measured

Thanks, I will try to get at it tomorrow and I will post a pic of the stick so you can get a glance of what I'm dealing with.
