Default Hurst T handle

I have a Hurst t handle in my 96 ta. I believe it's just the ****. I am trying to replace it but don't know how it comes off. I thought the nut at the bottom would turn but it isn't turning for me. Anyone have any advice?

Lefty loosey. Someone probably used red Loctite on it. If it still won't budge, triple wrap the handle with a rag and use a small pipe wrench.

Hopefully you are replacing it with proper round Hurst ball, they are the only shifter **** that ever feel right to me. Probably because I'm old.

I know my factory handle was super tight. Try putting a lil MAN behind it. Lol

I didn't want to twist or bend the shift rod. That's the only real movement I get

It would take a lot to twist or bend the shifter rod

This is gonna sound weird but I had the same problem and I actually just took a hammer and tapped on the handle on the passenger side and it broke it loose without damaging anything. Give it a shot.
