T56 Slider Question
T56 Slider Question I am in the process of rebuilding my T56 and I have ran in to a question that has me stumped.
For the two sliders that go over the syncros, which way does the slider face ? There is a bevel side and a flat side.
I am working on a 2005 gto t56 if that makes a difference.
Here are some pics of what I am talking about.
Here is what it looks like when I took it apart. Bottom slider bevel up and top slider bevel up.
Picture off someones repair thread. Bottom slider bevel down and top slider bevel up?
Should be an easy question for someone who has done this a few times.

Ideally the bevel goes towards the front of the trans, but in practice it doesn't matter. The slider is machined to the hub so ideally if the hub is flipped, the slider should flip with it. In practice the tolerances are so tight the hub and slider can flip and still operate.
So keep everything the same way it came off if you can.

Vette/GTO has the 3-4 bevel facing rearwards stock.
On antiques, matching the slider to the hub mattered far more, and test-fitting / sliding them is good practice. But F/R facing doesn't matter in any of the T56 synchros except 06-07 Z06 reverse hub.
