Default Clutch recomendations

Hi i new to this forum but i recently bought a 02 ss slp with the 345 hp package. It has 49,000 miles on it and looks, drives like new. Except the other day the clutch fell to the floor. Turns out it is leaking hydrolic fluid from the slave cylinder. So im going to get a new clutch kit while i have the tranny out. i was wondering what slave cylinder is best? and what clutch kit would be recommended? I will be using the car for a DD for about 6 months a year going about 8 mile round trip to work. im never going to take it to the track but its rare for me to turn down a race on the street lol. the car is going to stay original no mods. i was thinking ls7 but anything will help?

I would run LS7 clutch kit and GM slave and master with drill mod. Ls7 its great to me, I bought a spec clutch for a 02 z28 I had few years ago and wish I had did LS7 in that car.. my buddy has a TSP 383 in his WS6 DD make lots of power and LS7 clutch is holding up well

Light weight flywheel, LS7 or Monster lvl 1 clutch and the GM slave. Not the AC Delco or any other. GM had revised the slave and made it a bit better.

I suggest a light weight flywheel only because the LS7 PP is HEAVY AS HELL.

I agree, I'd go with an 18lb flywheel combined with a Level 1 clutch to free up some power to the wheels and allow the engine to rev faster rather than the heavier than stock LS7 clutch which will rob some power. Don't hesitate with any questions, Chris 817-750-2000

Do a search about it, because what I have read it really doesn't solve the problem. Might help, but for a few it didn't help. The video is a guy on here (Blueknight) If you read his threads about the drill mod, it did not work for him. I didn't do it, but did replace clutch, Tick MC, Slave, speed bleeder.

Default ls7

The ls7 clutch kit will bolt right into 98-02 camaro? I've been having clutch issues and know its not hydraulic. The drill mod is where u drill out a restriction in the line allowing more fluid to move, this makes the car shift better in high revs. The high rev shifts will break other things like the stock rear end, which is why the restriction is in the line.

LS7 for your power will be lots of clutch and it drives like stock without chatter or acting like you have an on off switch for a clutch.

All you really need is a new GM slave and master cyl assembly then a new clutch of course and you are ready to go. No need for the "drill mod" on the new assemblies either. They have a better takeup/valve in them already.

We have the monster clutches and gm slaves ready to go!

Dont forget a remote bleeder while you are there. Saves time and money and thrown wrenches across your garage.

I suggest a light weight flywheel only because the LS7 PP is HEAVY AS HELL.
1. The AC Delco PN is discontinued.
2. The GM revised that slave back in 2001 (old news). There is no way to get an older slave cylinder unless you have a time machine.
3. An adjustable MC is not needed for these clutches. The standard stock one is fine and if you currently don't have issues with your stock MC, don't replace it.
4. I do not recommend the lighter flywheel unless it's for road race apps. The regular billet flywheel will be fine.
5. I recommend the MONSTER LEVEL 2 STREET, NOT RACE and use discount coupon code MC125 during checkout.
