2nd gear issue
2nd gear issue Searching turned up a lot of issues not exactly like this, so I figured I'd ask directly. My 99 TA sat for a couple of months and now has an issue with second gear. At lower speeds it doesn't want to go into 2nd and when it does go in and I let the clutch out it sometimes kicks the shifter back into neutral. If it doesn't go in and I try to force it, it just grinds and grinds. Seems to be worst under light acceleration at about 20 mph. These issues only happen about a third of the time, the rest of the time it shifts like normal. Trans is a Tick level 2 (a4 to m6 swap), tick adjustable master, monster stage 3 (squeals and chatters like mad). About 30k miles on this setup, 120k on the car. Car doesn't see much racing, mostly a DD. Sitting for months on end has not had this effect before. My thoughts are the synchros, but it seems kind of early in life for a synchro failure seeing as it doesn't get abused. Any thoughts?
