Default 95% of clutch issues

I see a lot of issues with people complaining and complaining that "I hate this clutch" "it sucks" " I want to get rid of it"…. and the problem is 95% of the time an install error. Instead of coming on here and bashing companies maybe you should take your vehicle to a competent shop that knows what they're doing. But, wait your a mechanic and blah blah blah…. and you can do it yourself and you put a shim in it and didn't know if it was the right one…. Rant over …

I'll admit I'm a culprit of this. I while back I was talking a little smack about my Spec clutch dying after only 3500 miles and it turned out to be an insanely poor install. The shop said they couldn't believe the car drove at all let alone lasted 3500 miles. So sorry Spec lol. That doesn't excuse countless other stories of Spec clutches not lasting but it my case it actually fought pretty hard in there to stay alive for 3500 miles.

What kind of installation errors are you seeing? Install is pretty straight forward

some common errors in clutch install

draw tranny last 1/2" in to bell housing by using the bolts and wrenching it in= killed pilot bearing

not replacing pilot bearing

not resurfacing FW

over TQ PP bolts (LT1)

TO bearing to tight against clutch PP

not breaking in the clutch for 500 mi

not TQ FW or PP bolts correctly=bolts coming lose=rattle/vibrations

putting in disc upside down (yeah almost impossible to bolt them in this way..but some have managed

I admit, I'm guilty of drawing it back together the last 1/4" with the bolts.

After 4 hours of foul language, adjusting the disc, more foul language, and feeling like I had been wrestling a gorilla for said timeframe, I did it. Never had an issue, and I'd attribute that more to luck than anything.

How about air in the hydraulics and not properly bleeding / flushing the system...

Interesting, what install errors did you have? I'm probably guilty of some myself.
