Default spitting out 3rd gear

Well went to the track for the first time a week ago with a stock shifter...oops. Gonna get that replaced, that is a big POS shifter. Mis-shifted a bunch of times. Did the good old 1-2-3-2 shift, got on the clutch real fast with that one, nothing bad happened. And had screwed up some 2-3 and 3-4 shifts where i actually heard grinding. On the way back from the track to home when I put it in 3rd gear the car would spit it back out. Still happening now, but when I keep my hand on the gear to keep pressure on it it wont spit back out. What is broken/wrong or needs to be replaced to fix this?
Thanks

sounds like you might have tweaked the shift fork some.

see mine does that sometimes, but ive only been to the track 2 times and I never missed a shift. I will be going along regular driving and put it in 3rd, and press the accel and it will pop out of 3rd gear, not usre why and it doesnt grind at all, just annoying but it doesnt do it all the time

im the same as 01SS it did it to my buddy when he was at hi rpms but other than that it does it to me sometimes but its getting annoying, usually if u hold it in there for a sec u pretty much eliminate it, but just knowing it will do it annoys me im taking it in soon.

same thin mean00ss, thats exactly what mine does. it feels to me like when it goes in, its different from the other gears. like 2nd and forth have a little "hump" or something to prevent it from just falling out...

Either way not good & the trans is gonna need to come out.
The fork is prolly tweeked, might have torn up the blockers too , but needs inspection.

Mine does the same thing.. I'm not sure if it's synchros, fork, or the dreaded sliders..

Any other input from anyone else? I know it's a longshot, but I'd love to have a "oh, i had that EXACT problem.. it was ____ ".. Would be nice to be able to order the parts in advance.

I had the same problem-Its the shift fork, they put aluminum forks in the T-56, and it's not hard to tweak, you have two options, they make a replacement Cast Iron fork to fix this problem, or you could go to the local Dodge Dealership and get a steel fork from the vipers the Vipers use the same tranny internally the only difference is the housing, the steel is a better upgrade than the cast iron IMO I did the steel one and it feels really good btw it's the 3-4 shift fork. hope this helps, I don't have the part number, but I just asked for the steel 3-4 shift fork, and had no problems...Peace

these guys have been building race versions of the T-56 for years, if you are out of your waranty, and you want someone to build it for you give them a buzz.
