keep missing 4th when romping on it Hi guys. I have an MGW shifter and lately it seems like I keep missing 4th when accelerating kind of hard. Not WOT but just faster than normal. Anyway on normal driving going from 3rd to 4th is no problem. But yesterday I went from 3rd to second twice. Big whoops. I wasnt reving high enough to even redline but still a bad surprise to have that happen. I was wondering if anybody else ever had this problem? Im still getting used to the MGW so that's probably itb but it seems like when accelerating like that I have to pull down and slightly to the right to hit 4th but when normal cruising i can just pull it straight back. If i do the same motion while normal driving it goes in to 6th. Thought it was kind of weird.
It's just stiff from being new. I have the MGW as well, I'd say give it another month or so for the shifter to properly break in. When I first installed my shifter it was super stiff and I wouldn't even thing of quickshifting. But now I can bang though 6th at WOT without wincing

I had a similar problem when my MGW was new last year. I missed 4th gear (the easiest gear to hit, wtf?) quite a few times. It broke in, and I got used to it and everything is right as rain now. Never missed a 2-3 shift with it!
I think you just gota get used to the new shifter. I have the MGW as well. 4th gear is the easiest one to find. Im sure once you drive it more and the stick loosens up it'll get easier.

how is your hand on the shifter? I pull 1-2 with my palm towards me. 2-3 is palm facing the dash, 3-4 is palm facing passenger's seat. this keeps me from trying to pull back AND towards me. if i do 3-4 with palm facing me like i do my 1-2, i almost ALWAYS gate the shifter. here's a video of what i'm talking about, start at 1:10 mark to skip burnout procedure:
