Default Rebuilt T56 Break in?

My T56 was recently rebuilt (again) about 150 mi ago, new input shaft, cluster, all kinds of little things. Clutch is a SPEC stage 1, 800 mi on it before rebuild.

I know most clutches recommend 500 mi of easy driving to break in, but my clutch has already gotten over that before it was pulled (flywheel did not need a resurface).

I haven't really driven hard, should I baby it until 500 mi, then change fluid and be free to raise hell? I've heard some say yes, some say no.

Sorry that I can't answer your question, but if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to get yours rebuilt? I have mine in a shop right now and they want $1700 to replace a few parts of the tranny. Synchros and a couple seals. I took it out of my car, and brought it into them for them to disassemble and check the parts. I was wondering what you thought of that price.

depends on what they replaced... if it just new blockers and forpads etc then there is no break in really as those parts really dont "wear in" now if they replaced gears, bearings etc then yes I think a break in period for the bearing and such is warranted and 500 miles would be fine.

and 1700 is stupid high if they arent touching gears. I would ask for a price list of what all is being done. A complete rebuild kit with fork pads synchros, bearings, steel 3-4 fork, and keys is around 600 depending on exactly what parts you get. Couple that with the normal 400 in labor for R&R and thats not close to 1700. Tick charge 12xx iirc and that includes shipping to and from. If they are replacing gears then it will get expensive quick as they cost 200 a piece or so
