Default Third gear problems at track

Stock clutch, tick master cylinder, mgw shifter. When I am racing and shifting hard my shifter feels like it goes in third and stays there like its in.. but I have no gear.. one time I had gear for maybe half a sec and it went away. When I am driving normal or start in third and do a pull it is fine.. does anyone have any ideas?

Could it be a bad shifter cup? Because the shifter stays in place but its like it slipped off the cup or the cup isnt even there anymore.. when I put in the mgw the cup wasnt epoxyed in

What shifter cup did you have, stock plastic, or brass? I've got the same issue with my trans. Don't think its the cup tho. Only have the issue in third. It feels like there is an "extra" slot between first and third, but no gear. Just rebuilt the trans, but didn't notice any issues that may cause it. Thanks.

I had the stock one but it was completely broke in half somehow. I had a horrible whine too in every gear. Everything went away when I replaced the shifter cup

Glad I came across this. Having the exact symptom you are. Gonna pull the shifter and check the cup in the morning
