Default Transmission Removal ?

In the LS1 F-body can the transmission be removed from the car and leave the bell housing attached to the engine ? Or is there internal bolts holding the bell to the trans ?

Yes, in fact I just did this task this past weekend. I removed the transmission first, then I removed the bell housing second. It was fairly simple to remove them separately, and it went back together like butter!!

Thanks for the info. I have only pulled the trans out when I drop the engine out the bottom, haven't had to do just the trans yet...

As above, IMO its faster and easier to do it this way. Especially going back together.

Thanks man, I'm about 95% sure I blew the clutch out last weekend. I'm planning on pulling it this weekend to see the damage. I'm also trying to get this out with out beating and scratching it all to hell. Last time I had the engine out I did this...
