Default Removing mangled pilot bearing suggestions needed

I've had a crappy weekend trying to remove my pilot bearing.
First I got a loaner puller from Advanced Auto. The finger ends on it were not 90 degrees but kind of tapered; and this was a never used before tool. So it ended up crushing the roller bearings a bit. I returned it.
I then got the "right" puller (OEM brand 27059) at Pep boys, and slide hammer. This one pulled all the rest of the rollers and the cage out, and then one of the arms broke off. I returned it but they didn't charge me, cool. The main bearing body remains.
So I am waiting for another one of the same to use, and am hoping that it will be able to grab the body of the bearing. But if it gives me problems, is there any other method to pulling the bearing? I see a spot of rust on the groove between the bearing and crankshaft and if that goes in farther I am certainly in for some seriously fused metal. :-(
My other last resort is the puller with 4 fingers, not sure where to rent that from in my area.

Any creative and non damaging (to crankshaft) methods of removal suggestions appreciated.

You may be able to tap the remains with a fine-thread tap (if the ID is close) then thread in a bolt and use the slide hammer or pry against the bolt head. 1/2-20 min/max diameter is 0.4460/0.4570 and 5/8-18 is 0.5650/0.5780...

I have used a hammer and chisel before, but you have to make sure you take it easy and dont get into the crank.

I use a slide hammer with a two finger puller. Trying to put both fingers in at the same time is to big so I take something and tap it in with. Then use the slide hammer and and it comes on out with some work. I can get u the part number on the puller I use if u want? I like that it's a little to big so it will definitely grab when it's on the other side.

I had to use a die grinder. Just take your time, the goal is to weaken the outer race enough to bend it in a little then pull it out with some pliers. That is the only thing that worked for me.

The closest AutoZone is about 45 min away. But I'll drive it, if that tool will work. That is not the kind I used yet.

for me it was plug & play. It comes with 4 different size "claws". use the largest size that fits in the hole. Tighten well as the claws expand to catch the inner lip if bearing. It took 3-4 as hard as I could slams but it came right out.

I use a wooden dowel piece I cut from some closet rod piece I had to hammer in new bearing

It is called a "blind hole puller" and I assume it is available elsewhere but my local AZ has it.

I to have driven more than 45 min to get a "tool" for various reasons.

maybe spray some PB or liquid wrench around old pilot bearing and let it sit. I have never had to but you mentioned rust so that may help

A final follow up- I did get it out. I sprayed some WD40 in the cavity and let it sit a few days. I got the 4-claw kind of puller from AutoZone (OEM # 27128). I had to use my dremel to grind the front hole in the bearing a little larger so I could get the "next bigger" puller jaw size to fit in. Then I expanded the puller, and wailed on it for maybe 20 times. It came out soon after that.
