Default LT1 to LS1 T56 conversion question

I see that to make this happen the Ls1 trans input shaft needs to be 31 gear count....and you need an Ls1 inpt shaft, front plate, and bellhousing.

My question, is the front plate 100% nesesarry, or is it ONLY needed for the clearance of the clutch fluid lines? Seems like the bearing/race is the same size

What's missing is the cast & machined surface for the slave cylinder.
Otherwise, they are the same thickness and you could cut holes for slave lines.

Ah-that brings up a good point. Is there any sort of mounting provision or bolt holes for the slave in the Lt1 unit? If not, I think it would be a long shot to rig that up and it seems I would be forced to buy that front plate.

Its about $700-750 in parts. Input shaft, BH, front bearing plate

Just buy the proper one... or you will be fiddling with the LT1 style plate for too long trying to make it work.

I already have an LT unit. Just wanted to see how expensive it would be before diving into it! May keep it for spare parts...still not sure!

In your opinion, worth keeping for $500?
