Stripped flywheel bolt

Default Stripped flywheel bolt

Hey guys while torquing down the the first of 6 flywheel bolts I didn't realize I had set my torque wrench to around 94ft lbs roughly than the 74. The bolt began to spin easily, I stopped looked and my wrench and my heart sank.. I was able to torque the rest down the the proper torque. So I have 5/6 flywheel bolts torqued to factory spec. One spins easily when I attempted to torque it, I haven't bothered backing the bolt out at all.

Looking for advice for my stupid mistake..

Should I leave it in? Attempt to take it out?

I was using brand new bolts from the dealership and loctite was applied too.

can fix using a helicoil kit

try removing it and chase the threads out with a tap the size of the FW bolts

Ok so I went to take out the bolt and the head broke off. Now the threads of the bolt are still inside the hole. I'll need to get an extractor to remove it now...

Any suggestions of an extractor to remove it?

Extractors never seem to work well for bolts like that. You will probably be better off welding a new bolt head to it, or something else you can put some force on safely. Good luck!

I used the Irwin Master Screw Extractor kit and got the bolt out no problem. Took my time and it was out within an hour.

I dont think the bolt stripped. I think it twisted off.

Use a MIG welder and spot weld the center of the bolt to raise it up,
then weld a nut to the bolt. Use a smaller nut so you dont weld to the crank.
The heat from the weld will loosen the locktite.
May take a few trys.

Is that green locktite?

You are using way too much locktite....

now that the broken bolt is out, chase the threads in crank to get all that dried loc-tite out.....and don't use that much on new "correct" FW bolts. Use blue if you are using any at all.
