Default Tracking a tick - slave noise?

I've been hopelessly trying to track down a ticking sound that mocks me every time I drive past a jersey wall or another vehicle. I had someone more experienced take a very quick listen to my car on a lift yesterday and said he hears ticking possibly from the slave area or a valve/lifter transmitting noise down my headers. I'm unfamiliar with diagnosing slave noise. My ticking sound happens constantly, loudest at 2000rpm, and clutch in or out does not change it and it happens sitting still or driving. Could this be any indication that the slave is ticking? I would think if it happens at ALL times it would more than likely be the pilot bearing if anything. Factory T56

If the sound does not change based on the clutch being in or out, then it is not the pilot. It could be the throw out bearing...

Are you sure it isn't an exhaust leak? A leaking header flange will tick like that.

I've been trying to seal the exhaust the best I can over the last few months and haven't found anything obvious. Last night I ordered a set of Percy's header gaskets and will check the header flange this weekend to hopefully put to bed the possibility of a header leak.

So my understanding (which is little) is that the throwout bearing is what makes contact with the clutch fingers. If I am not pushing the clutch in, this shouldn't be making contact, correct? I'm getting this tick at all times, in gear or out, moving or not, clutch in and out, idle or revving.

The slave setup with these cars is such that the bearing makes contact with the clutch spring fingers 100% of the time.
