Default Adding a Clutch Position Switch

Interested in adding a clutch position switch for data log purposes. Will NOT be connected to the factory ECM - just the data logger. Suggestions on what to get?

Why not add something like a shock position sensor to monitor the sweep of the pedal rather than a simple on/off switch?

Could you use the "signal" that is used to prevent starter from engaging until clutch pedal is depressed?

I'm not sure how that type of data could be very useful.

If the OP used a shock travel sensor to monitor clutch pedal travel, that could be useful for mapping out the pedal's "sweet spot" to improve the launch. I use a sensor to record hydraulic throwout bearing pressure to basically do the same thing. After one finds that sweet spot, the trick then becomes to find a way to hit that spot instantly and consistently.

that is what I was wanting to do - be able to log actual position rather than just on/off.

It'd be easy to add something either to the pedal, or simply stick a pressure sensor on the hydraulic line. Whilst not strictly speaking position....still directly related to position
