Exedy Exploding Clutch Warning I’m replacing the clutch on my 96 Camaro. It’s a cammed 3.8 V6 that I use for Autocross events and track nights. I just wanted to replace it with an OEM stock clutch kit since the original had worked fine for years. So I ordered one from Exedy, but the pressure plate box came with a warning saying to never race with this clutch or it might explode? Does anyone know if this is just something they put on the box so they aren’t liable for anything, or is the clutch legitimately made of a poorer quality than the original stock clutch?

Never used a Exedy but every clutch brand I have used, including the McLeod twin disc I have now, uses the same China clone PP as the original "Valeo" ones are no longer available. I make more HP/TQ than your V6 and have been down the 1/4 mi running a tire hundreds of times and never had a PP fail.....disc though is another story. It is the disc construction that is different between brands
Back when I did run a single disc clutch many would buy the cheap Autozone brand clutch and then buy the McLeod DF disc for $125. $ have gone up now but you should be fine with a "replacement" kit like LUK mentioned. You want a disc with 5-6 springs vs 4
