Clutch help Hey guys noob here I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place, I have a 2000 Camaro SS with the T56 trans and it won’t go into gear, I had the clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder all swapped out with new replacements from a fairly decent shop, the car drove well for a while but after some high rpm shifts and a few donuts lol I lost all clutch pressure the Pedal will go up and down with no pressure, I do not believe that the clutch is burnt or slipping but I replace the slave cylinder and the master cylinder and bled it for about 40 minutes and about two bottles of dot 3 brake fluid , The clutch pedal now has pressure but still won’t go into gear, thanks in advance anyone who has advice or has dealt with this issue I would appreciate any help thanks again, I’m wondering if I need shims for the slave cylinder
If it went into gear before shims won't be the answer, shims "close the gap" between the slave the pressure plate. If you can get pressure and maintain it in the system, no leaking from the opening between the bell housing and the transmission, then your clutch disk might have been burned or the fly wheel needs to be resurfaced. It sounds like you lost clutch pressure that would indicate a leak, but if the pressure can be maintained it would most likely be the clutch. Did you change the pressure plate too? Usually when a clutch is changed the pressure plate and often pilot bearing is changed out too. The flywheel should be resurfaced or changed as well, depending on the mileage of the one in there.
