monster triple initial review
He's in the Air Force and deployed a lot and I do all the work on his car here in Ky. Plus he only drives/races it during LSFest when he's home.
Purchased from Tick
Pros:
Build time 2 weeks
Packaging excellent
Install pretty easy considering how many plates its going through
Clutch feel and response is unreal
Drivability unreal
They say in their ad that a 100lbs person can drive it...My 102lbs daughter shifted it like it was a stock 4 cylinder.
Cons:
Price a little high
Instructions online only and very vague. PLUS, they don't BOLD TYPE very important things like "must use their GM flywheel bolts that are machined to clear clutch plate" (I just seen it because I read every little detail and was like WTF???)
Customer service by email only (27 emails during 4 times R&R of the trans trying to figure out problem)
No free shipping on warranty returns. But they do offer a label for $50.
So the final part is the clutch is so much better using a 3/4" bore master vs a 7/8". The latter has an on/off engagement. (3/4" Recommended by guys at Tick at LSFest...good call fellas).
Repair/replacement was a 4 day turn around and they actually called me with problem and repairs performed.
I drove his car almost every day before he was able to come home last week, since he was deployed during LSFest, to break it in. Night and day vs the RXT Twin disc he had in it. He drove and did a few "pulls" with some friends. So we decided to take it to the track to get a few passes. Low and behold, the mainshaft snapped at rear on the first launch. So that was that and trans will be heading back to Tick for a new upgraded shaft.
