Default Dorman pilot bearing for t56?

Went to autozone to get a pilot bearing for my ls t56 swap and they said this number cross referenced the smaller ls pilot bearing.
dorman 14650. Seems to be the same as the old one.
the part number is an alternate for 14061685 but I’m seeing contradicting things online-Amazon says it won’t fit an ls1 Camaro despite the alternator pn.

That Dorman number is a pilot BUSHING, you don’t want that, get a genuine G.M. #14061685 pilot BEARING, Amazon has them for around $15.00

won’t the bearing ruin the input shaft if it goes bad?

Yes they have been known to ruin a input shaft, usually due to other problems in either the install or transmission itself, but if installed properly and transmission is in good working order they will last as long as a clutch disc and should be replaced every time a clutch job is done.

You can look at it this way G.M. always uses the bearings on T56’s for a reason, you know the bushing is cheaper and if the O.E.M. manufacturers thought for a minute they could save .05¢ per unit by installing bushings vs. bearings they would do it in a heartbeat. There is a lot of research and development both by the car manufacturer and the transmission supplier in what parts to use.

I buy the bearing, gm one. Rock auto or from summit racing depending on what I need at the time. I usually replace mine every time I pull the trans which is a lot but once every clutch change is good.
