Default T56 question.

Hey all, if I don’t plug in the CAGS and the reverse lock out solenoids on my T56. ( 2002 TA ) what will happen with the ECM and will I get any dash lights? And can these things be programmed out of the ECM? Doing a T56 swap. Thanx.

im putting one in my blazer that has a 6.0 and i emailed current performance wiring, the people that made my wiring harness, and he said that i needed to hook up the reverse lock out by grounding one side and running a wire to my brake lights, otherwise shifting into reverse would be hard to do.so let me know what happens if you dont hook it up ok.thanks.

The CAGS can be tuned out and you can remove it and plug it. It's takes a M20x1.5 (subaru oil drain plug) It will need an O-ring on it to seal properly but it's easy to do.
As for the reverse lockout, It's very wise to keep it. IMHO. The solenoid is small enough that it doesn't hinder anything. But the CAGS is stupid big.

it has two pins.the solenoid itself is facing the engine,so lets call it a inner pin and outter pin.which is which, does anyone know ? i need to start running my wires.

Pink is voltage, Lt Grn is control circuit. If looking directly at connector, lock tab on top, Pink is on right.

$120 on flee bay. I have replace my solenoid ( plug got snapped off) so I was thinking about this. How easy is it really to get it in to reverse going in to 5th?? Is that really a big issue?

It's not so much of hitting it going to 5th. Its about if the car is still rolling forward a little to fast as if your were coasting and backing into a spot, garage, etc. These trans aren't like an old NV4500 or Muncie. They're fragile.
Not to say you couldn't hit it going to 5th during a roll race and the adrenalin is pumping at 165+

Oh I see, they want you to be total stopped before shifter it in reverse. So, if the lockout is unplugged, will I get a dash light? If I’m going from auto to t56. What will happen if I just don’t use it? And if there is a warning light issue for the lockout, can it be programmed out of the ECU as I have to get it re programmed anyway.

just do what im doing,no check engine lights or anything, just a ground wire on one side, not sure which yet,and then wire the other wire to either your brake light
or some place else,i think some people wire it to the clutch,i guess the safety neutral switch not sure.im going with the brake light,so when i want to go in reverse i just hit the brake pedal and put it in reverse.should be simple.this is what i was told to do by the people that make wiring harness's
