Default Tailhousing swap question

OK, I recently purchased a t56 from a board member that needed a new tail-housing. I ordered the one from AMP that comes with the seal, magnetic drain plug and bushing. I had a machine shop transfer the old bearings and reverse idler gear. But now I cannot get the tail-housing to fit back onto the T56. Is there a special trick to getting it back on? or do i have to have it in a certain gear? Seems like the reverse gear wont mesh but I'm not entirely sure. Thanks in advance

Take a small screwdriver or punch and push up slightly on the reverse shift rail.
