is it my trans or my rear?
i have only missed 3rd to 4th like twice cause i was out of practice and havent missed any other shifts, could it be the trans, it feels ok.

thanks guys

Hey Rodney,
When you had your gears put in, did you use a solid pinion spacer, or a crush sleeve?
When I had a crush sleeve on my rear pinion, it lasted a while, but eventually I got the nasty decel noises. That's because launching on slicks crushes the sleeve even further, and throws the gears out of adjustment. When we pulled mine out, it was no longer a symmetrical 'crush', but was wobbled towards one side.

So, if you don't have a solid pinion spacer, get one installed. If you *do* have a solid pinion spacer, then something else may have moved (if the rear wasn't assembled tight enough). Let me know about the sleeve/spacer and we can go from there.

Andrew

Shane@thunder and i put these gears in kinda last minute before the sbso, im 99% sure we used a crush sleve because we used the old one to get everything right before putting the new one in so we didnt have to crush it more than once. im guessing that is what it is. where can i get ahold of a solid crush sleve. this noise is driving me up the walls, it sounds like the noise you hear screaming off of a dragster when he his coasting at the end of the track.

see, i told ya you would have some imput.

btw, would this also be the cause of the extra slack im feeling when starting burnouts.

It's not the 'standard' installed part, but I believe it's what should be put in 12-bolts that will see high RPM dumps on slicks. Happened to another friend of mine too.
For what it's worth, after the solid spacer was installed, my Richmond 4.56's were quieter than ever. They stayed pretty darn quiet until I lost the posi (at NPR), and then when I installed the spool, I just "threw it in there", so the rear is noisy again. But at this point, I don't care about rear gear noise. I can't hear it over the bullets anyway.

It's like re-using the stock head bolts.

j/k even with open pipes with no bullets i can hear the whine
thanks dude, ill be looking into that solid sleve now that i know how to set up a rear.
Did you check the contact pattern on the drive & coast sides of the ring gear?
