Default LS3 to Super T10 Need Help

Hi everyone, this is my first post! Ive been on NastyZ28 for years but finally ditched the SBC in my camaro. Thats why I'm here. I have a LS3 (actually L92) that I'm trying to mate to a Super T10 4 speed that was original to the car. I did my research and found that I needed the McLeod 460535 flywheel and the McLeod 8617 pilot bushing. Both of which extend out 0.4 of an inch to mimic mounting to a SBC crank from the transmissions point of view. I am using my stock 168 tooth original aluminum bell housing. I am mocking everything up and it doesn't feel right. I had to drive the pilot bushing really far in to get the transmission to mount flush, and there is no play at all. By all appearances, I could have used a standard bushing and still been fine. I don't want to drive it in any more in case I need to pull it out. Any ideas? Im taking this slow as I don’t want to screw it up so I thought id take a break and post here. Pics below. Thanks!

You can see I have no play at all on the shaft.



This bearing should not be in that far?

Edit: I think I need to remove that bushing and go with a GM LS7 bearing. That should put it right where it needs to be with 1/4” of the input shaft visible. Sigh. For some reason I imagined this swap being smooth and trouble free.

Never used any of the Mcleod stuff but here are a few combinations that work Be sure to zero you 61 bell.

The stepped bushing has no benefit to the early trans / Gen III combo and is too tall. The large O.D. CTS-V bearing will work.

Default With the LS7 Bearing:

Do you guys think I should pound that bearing in a bit further? Ive found a ton about minimum shaft penetration but nothing about max.

You want the angled end of the spline section to have some clearance in case of material expansion under heat. If you can slide a .030 feeler in (and scrape marking cpd off the end if it,) you're good. Alternately spin the crank and see if the maindrive stays stationary. A muncie pattern shim should be quick and cheap if there's any doubt.
Anyone on Nasty suggest you go 6 speed yet?

Thanks! 6 speed is phase 2 . Im too inundated with phase 1 to even think about it but I don't think my super T-10 is going to last very long.
