When tightening down the pressure plate, you have to pull up on the alignment tool a little to get it straight. Because the weight of the clutch disc will pull it down a little throwing it off line.

The problem you have now is that the tip of the input shaft is just a little off line, but is aligned in the clutch disc. So the tip of the input shaft is hitting the bottom of the pilot bearing. See where I'm coming from?

What I did was put a nut at the end of the output shaft (the shaft on the opposite side of the engine) and lined the tranny up and when I "Stabbed" the tranny I simply twisted the shaft with the nut on it and it slid right in. The nut serves as a way to turn the input shaft in order to align the tranny.

So how did you remove the nut once you got the the input shaft into the pilot bearing? And how did you thread the nut onto the input shaft in the first place?? Did you just leave the nut on the input shaft???

I think he's trying to align the shaft in the pilot bearing, not the shaft in the clutch disc. Getting it in the clutch disc is easy, now getting it in the pilot bearing.....

Sorry man not a nut but a bolt. The bolt will go on the oposite side of the input shaft. So when you have the tranny up there trying to line it up, just have someone turn the bolt until you are aligned. Theres only one place that you can put a bolt in.
