Did you turn your flywheel, and if so did you space the flywheel properly??

JMD-i'm on my 3rd clutch in 5,000mi. my first replacement clutch was centerforce,it lasted all 800mi.(i had no drill mod) i then went with the ram 910 w/flywheel and mcleod adj master(still no drill mod)and it lasted 1,500mi and was gone. then i went to the ram 980(ram rebuilt it for little money) then we did the drill mod on the mcleod adj master and i put in a new slave.after 2,500mi, just lastnight it all started again. i have about 20 passes at the track and near 2,500mi,i don't know what to do? my car has only 20,000mi,i'm on my 4th clutch and two trans re-builds. what do i do?????? a new clutch set up? i'm ready to switch to a fuc--- auto. Only thing I can come up with for the reason that this happen after 3000 miles is that the quailty of this part sucks..

What about the drill mod? You do that as well? Sounds like you've got bleedback, not enough fluid travelling through the line to the slave. Read this post from start to finish, you'll find several helpful tips for your problem.

Spec has said that my failure was caused by a misaligned input shaft or bad pilot bearing.

Oh, horse !! Missing a pilot bearing won't have any effect on the sixth gear synchros, and they know it!! I had a missing pilot bearing for the first two years I owned my SS, and never had any problems with shifting, other than fluid return in the lines. After the drill mod, that went away too! And if you had a "misaligned pilot shaft", then every gear would be a bitch to engage.
BTW: How do you "misalign" a pilot shaft anyway??

I agree 100% This is what was sent to me after I emailed Spec the pics I posted here and asked about the warrenty

"Normally that is not covered b/c when a spring cover cracks and breaks it is due to input shaft misalignment during install or a bad pilot bearing, trans/engine mount or trans bearing. But since the clutch is like new I can get it replaced for you if you can send it in. "

Probably learn how to bleed it or learn how to drive, or both. Everything pre-drillmod is irrelevant though. Keep that in mind.

What is it: improper installation, incorrect flywheel/surfacing, driver error, hydraulic issues, etc? I'd like to think the quality of the clutches themselves is not so hit-or-miss, and there must be a few installation tricks/break-in procedures that make all the difference. Are there any clutch gurus out there that can enlighten us all?

P.S. Sorry for the rant, but I'm getting tired of reading nearly identical posts over and over with no real solution in sight.
Hey there! if you want some real world answers to your clutch problems and what clutch to get...pm PlanB down in aussie land...he's a mod here too! Wash
