Clutch Return Spring

Is it common for the clutch return spring under the dash to break. Today the one in my car broke again!! This being the second one. I was just coming to a stop today, no power shifting.

Is it worth replacing? The spring just keeps the pedal at the top of its travel. I do not see how it could hurt anything. Its not enough to engage the hydraulics.

I haven't had mine in since my second one broke last winter... went through a full season of drag racing and it didn't affect anything at all, clutch worked well.

My second one broke about 2.5 years ago and I haven't replaced it yet.... It's been 2.5 years and 15,000 miles and no clutch return spring.

I may try and make my own that is easily replaced and will live longer than 10K miles.

Im on my 3rd one. I drove for a long time with it broke and had no problems, but its there for a reason...

I broke my factory one after about 6 months with the car. I then broke a 2nd and 3rd one within 2 months after that. I've been driving the car now for over 2 years with no spring and NO ill effects. When it first happens the pedal feels a tad mushy at the VERY top of the travel, but you become accustomed to it.
