Throwout Bearing Couple questions...
-throwout bearing completely separate from a pilot bearing meaning two different parts?
-our trans needs both?
-not sure if z06 clutch comes with one but do know it has a pilot bearing
-should i buy an aftermarket throwout bearing (centerforce sells one) or should i just go through gm
-finally, when a throwout bearing goes bad what does it do to the trans? ie I have a 2001 ta that the clutch is going bad but the throwout bearing is gone and is making all types of noise, can it affect performance also?

Pilot bearing in the end of crank supports the end of the input shaft for the trans. The throw out is on the slave, get a GM replacement. No ill effects of bad bearing just the risk of it coming apart, then your bummin'.The pilot & TOB are seperate from the Z06'er .
this summer and they were only in the cars for a limited amount of time.
