Default Questions about an adjustable M/C

What are the pros and con's? I know they must be good because everyone wants one but how are they adjusted. Is it hard to adjust and if it is adjusted wrong will it eat my new clutch up?

The pros are that you can basically adjust the length of the rod, which in turn changes the engagement point. For most aftermarket clutches, you will need one of these. I believe the only clutch that doesn't need one are the Spec's

Cons are below:
I am currently using the McLeod master, which really sucks. I have bled and bled and bled the thing, yet the problem still persists; it's nice and stiff for a few minutes then the mushiness returns. A FULL gallon of brake fluid has been run through the system without even the slightest hint of being fixed, except for about a mile down the road. The damn pedal sticks to the floor and will not let me shift, so it smokes the clutch. Yet at other times, when the pedal is depressed completely, it will not go into gear for the life of me so it smoke the clutch again.

So all in all, I DO NOT recommend this MC, it fried my perfectly good McLeod clutch, made me waste $250, and gave me a lot of headaches. I'm going to try the RAM master and see what it has to offer, which from what I have heard are very good things.

IMO I need an adjustable master. Then you can take out the free play in the pedal, so once depressed the clutch is beginning to be released. The freeplay is the spot where the master is not compressing fluid . It is a necessity IMO.

Thanks for your honest answer. I guess I wont be getting one because I will be running a Spec stage3, I guess I'll get the 01-02 gm master and perform the drill mod on that one.

Maybe a stupid question, but, couldn't you just make a stock MC adjustable by fabbing a new clutch rod with a threaded end? If the only thing that makes it adjustable is the length of the rod(on the adjustable MC's)it seems like a pretty easy thing to make. Am I way off? Or has this been done?

The Mcleod unit has a bigger bore. It moves a little more fluid. You only need it if the pressure plate requires it. i would do what the company that makes the PP suggests.
