stuck in 3rd..help me out i recently had a spec stage 3 clutch installed on my 2001 trans am with minor bolt ons along with the upgraded 01-02 hydraulic system. before the install i noticed the clutch was going and to top it off the tranny got stuck in 3rd gear at a high rpm. so i got it installed and now it has well over 1000 miles since install and I did the proper installation recommendations before actually beating on the clutch. it was fine until today when it got stuck in 3rd gear again. it gets stuck and won't come out unless i put a good amount of force into it then it drives fine again. if I give it gas while it is stuck it almost feels like i am slipping the clutch cause the rpms go up but the car wont move. i saw several posts on this but with 4th gear and it being the shifter keys and possibly synchros and/or shifter fork. please let me know what in your opinion this could be and an estimate of how much it would be to fix. thanks alot
werd. my tranny is stuck in 3rd also. at first it was getting stuck in 5th and if i gunned it would pop out. now i was racing and it is completly stuck in third. the shifter comes out but still in 3rd. i cant go in reverse cause 3rd is constintly activated. i was told it was the shifter keys and possibly synchros and might as well upgrade the shifter forks to steel. iam about to yank her out to get looked at and i will let you know what i get told.

Basicallly your tranny is screwed and you need to get it rebuilt and also install a shifter with stop bolts.
