Default Name this smell...

Alright, when I first got my Jet Hot's I started smelling something when I would stop that smelled like burnt pop tarts. Very sweet smell. I assumed it might be the header coating or whatever. It has always been with the car, and seemed to increase in consistency with each power mod I did. I still have the stock clutch in the car, and when my car pulled off the dyno a few weeks ago the smell engulfed the whole car. Every time I turn on my vent I can smell it, and more so when I get on the car. Clutch does not noticeably slip, but is this the stock clutch starting to go? Or is it something else?

i think i have the same smell

at first i thought it was collant but after taking my shifte off a while back and i smelled some hoy tranny fluid i think that may be it, but i have no leaks that i can tell

im also thinking it could be the smell of fluid from the hydraulics with the clutch

im not sure what it is that i do that makes the smell but its strong inside the car and then it goes away

i think maybe if i slip the clutch while giving it a little more than average amount of gas it will do it

Sounds exactly like what I'm getting. Try turning your vent on after a WOT run or a drop down. Should bring it out alot.

I would guess that it is coolant....check the water pump housing on the drivers side...it will not necessarily drip becase the heat produced causes the water to evaporate... i've had coolant leaks in other vehicles before...my first thought was heater core. I have been getting a coolant (sweet) smell for about a week now, and just now located it. Since i do not have "the pad" under my hood i could see the coolant on the paint...and from there located the leak.

as far as this smell after a header install...i would make sure that my heater core hoses were not touching the header and that the connections are tight.
