ANOTHER Spec 3 clutch question...
Just how good is this clutch? It' s sitting under my bed right now, and after reading some of these threads I' m a little concerned about installing it. Would it hold up to a TR 227/224-114 cam? I have beater and a formerly driveable project car down. This cam will be going into a daily-driver, gotta-be-dependable car. Thanks in advance for any help.

the feeling I get is that how long your clutch lasts seems to depend on:
1. Do you have upgraded hydraulics (you have an 01, so you should be fine)
2. Did you upgrade the flywheel when changing the clutch
3. How was the quality of the installation
4. How long did you break it in for before starting to abuse it (500-1000 miles of street driving seems to do the job)
Im having clutch issues myself now, and been doin some reading, and it just seems to me that all this stuff is what, in the end, determines how long ure set up will last.

So is it better to get an upgraded flywheel? when changing the clutch? Whats wrong with the stocker?

The upgraded flywheel is billet. It is SFI approved and won't shatter like the stocker. I just pulled a stage 3 from my car. I had it in for 2 years and it is now dead. I did abuse the crap out of it with over 150 5500+ launches and lots of track time. I will be replacing it with a stage 4 F disk clutch.

Also you can only turn the stock flywheel 10 thousandths of an inch. Which is really nothing. If you have any wear on the stock flywheel, it needs to be replaced. Also, technically, spec doesn't warranty the ls1 clutch unless it is replaced with a flywheel.
