grinding often I am getting so frustrated!!!! I keep poping out of 3rd gear when I'm driving down the street. I'm not racing it, I'm just goin to work. IT makes this god awful grinding noise and scares the heck out of me. I never know when it is going to happen. Somedays it shifts fine, others it doesn't. Are the synchros going bad? Is it just blown? Throw some thoughts at me and save my misery!!!

i had this problem before when i installed my pro 5.0;but it could happen w/any shifter.have you ever dropped any change,when and if you put it there, under your ashtray?if you have,pull the boot,and you might find a quarter or nickel or something stuck in the shifter base,therfore preventing the stick from going into gear properly and/or popping it out of gear.that **** pisses me off!

I have the same problem on my '00 SS. I think the guy before me couldn't nail the 2-3 shift, so the shift fork is bent. It's not a huge deal, so I'm not going to have it rebuilt until I have to.

Ditto to that. I thought about doing that when the time comes (tranny's fine right now), but at $100, I don't have to learn how to rebuild one that bad I guess.
