Need some help from the experts

I have a 2002 WS6 T/A with just over 4000miles on it. (bought it in June 02 with 9 miles, right off the truck. Paperwork was being processed before the dealer even got the car)
I've noticed that it always seemed rather particular with what gear it wanted when shifting. Some gears it would resist more than others. This seemed dependent on speed, and rpm mostly, but also a bit of randomness too, but I can't prove that.
It seems to be getting a bit more finicky now too. Today, at a 2-5mph roll from a stop sign, it wouldn't go into 2nd. This is new. Often when rolling slow it liked 2nd more than 1st.
I also find that unless I get the revs up high, it won't downshift. (this I thought was normal till a friend who has had manuals longer than I said it was odd - that every manual he's driven could be downshifted without any resistance or particular need for rev matching while the clutch was still disengaged)
1-2 is always rougher than any other transistion too for some reason. There's just a bit of roughness in the shifter lever (the feel of sliding it into gear) that isn't in the other gears.
I think that's everything. I'll have to take it out again tomorrow to make sure I got it all.
This is the first time I've driven it in the cooler weather like this, so I don't know if some of the new stuff is related to that (but I let it warm up before leaving the driveway or parking space).
Reading though here I was starting to wonder if it was clutch related (not disengaging), but why would it accept higher gears in that case?
Oh, sometimes while at a dead stop it won't go into first. I have to put it in neutral, let the clutch out, then push the pedal down again and try to put it in gear once more. Sometimes this takes a few tries.
My warranty is up in June. If I have issues I'd like to get them done under warranty if possible.
I have driven it a little hard but nothing too serious. I don't drag race, and I don't shift without fully pressing the clutch pedal, and I never force it to go into a gear when it's resisting.
Yoiu didn't mention if you had raced it or anything like that
those are low miles. to have much damage.
But sometimes they could just have started with bad parts.
I would take it to them and tell them the tranny is hosed. .
Let them fix it if you stil have warrenty.
One last thing... Get started now! You don't want to get into an argument with them in April and have them drag their feet until after the warranty is expired. Even if you should still legally be covered, (which I have no idea, not being a lawer) you just don't need the headache of another argument on top of the one about the transmission.
Well, this is a disappointment.
First problem I've had with anything from the General in a long time. And it sucks more to have it on a new car.But better to find out now rather than later I guess. Thanks guys. I'll get it to them next month (Jan).
