Clunking, banging?
Clunking, banging? OK, I have a 6 sp car, and I have a clunking on every shift not when shifting but when the clutch engages with the tranny...it's not terribly loud but it's there and getting slightly worse. Also, I have a loud clunking/banging when coming to stop and downshifting....and after completely stopped if I keep the shifter in second and then move to first it also clunks very loudly. I have replaced the tranny mount to no avail. The second of the two problems is the worse of the two and I cannot figure out what it is. Thanks -Jeremy
my car does the same thing...i have been trying to track down this problem since i got this car. things that helped.....prothane torque arm mount,dealership rebuilding my tranny, also, my car has a hard time getting out of first some times. so im thinking it could be clutch , thowout bearing/pilot bearing problems. keep me updated if u ever eliminate it, also what year is your car.
it's an 02. I thought about the torque arm and the mount....that was gonna be my next guess actually. I will def keep you updated....you do the same......sorry for the delayed response.....I always forget to make it over here.
good deal, mine is a 00. i have 5 other friends who have 00 fbodys with 6 speeds, and mine is the only one that seems to do it(the others had there own set of problems though) i also have 4.10 gears, im thinking it could be caused by a shitty gear install job.
