T56 rebuild question
T56 rebuild question Hey Guys, I am new to the site. I am building an ls1 and t56 for my 69 camaro and I have a question about the trans. I bought the trans used from a 99 camaro. It came with a billet hurst shifter and a slightly used centerforce dualfriction clutch. I don`t think I`m going to run a used clutch even if it`s just slightly used.
But anyway, with the trans sitting on the garage floor and I shift it into 3rd or 5th and spin the input shaft, I hear a grinding noise and it seems to not want to stay into gear. Is that broken gears or synchros? What is the cost of upgrading the synchros to the updated carbon backed versions? Is the price I`m seeing for just each gear or is it for all forward gears? Thanks in advance
