Default Major tranny problem

Well I lost 2nd and 4th gear yesterday. I can get it in gear with the clutch pedal engaged, but when I let off the tranny grinds and it pops out of gear. (dropped bearings?) I am still under the 100K mile warranty I got because of my piston slap issue. Do you think the dealer will not fix this because I have a short shifter? I don't know how a shifter could cause this problem, but you know how dealers are. If they don't I guess I'll have to find a plce to get a new tranny. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Put the stock shifter back on & take it in to the dealer.

Problem is I don't know where it is. I guess I'll just have to clean out the garage and find it though. It's gotta be in there somewhere.
