Default Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP
Tranny l;ocked into 4th gear!!!!!!!!
What could be wrong ???
(has beend really notchy when shifting and jumps out of 3erd for a while)
What all do I need to replace and with what??
so I do not have to do this again.
and make it go into gear at 6700 rpm's

If it's stuck in 4th, it's probably one or more broken synchro key in the 3-4 synchro. Also could be the 3-4 shift fork is damaged, but I would lean more towards the keys. The jumping out of third could be either the engagement teeth in the third gear are worn or the 3-4 synchro slider is worn. Synchro keys are cheap (unless you go with the billet keys run about $75), 3-4 syncho is about 110 and the third gear runs about 120-140. Steel 3-4 shift fork is ~$50.

so If I can et away with a (T56 Synchro Rebuild Kit (D&D Part No. BS45, Price $199))and a (Steel 3-4 Shift Fork (D&D Part No. BS6, Price $49)) then My tranny should stop jumping out of gear and should shift smooth at 6700rpm's ????? that is with out the billet keys should i really get those or not $99 $$$$$$$..what is the difference..and do I need a different shifter or not I have the stock Hurst shifter with lou's short stick???

I have heard that after market ones can't over shift it and break the tranny like this one can?????is this true

I guess it really depends on how inexpensive you want to go. The billet keys are good insurance against breaking one again. G-Force has them for $75 bucks. The Gear box has the basic rebuild kit for 155. This includes new blocker rings, springs, keys, seals, shift fork pads and some other minor stuff.

You will need to take a good look at the engagement teeth on the third gear and the slider ring on the 3-4 synchro to see if they are worn. If so these will need to be replaced to stop the tranny from jumping out of 3rd.

As far as smooth shifting at high rom mostly has to do with a clean quick clutch disengagement. If the clutch is not completly disengaged, it will grind at WOT. Fresh blocker rings will probably help also.

The tranny has a internal shift stops, so overtravel should not be an issue
