Default Double clutching???

What the hell is it? I thought that was what semi's did. Is it just rev/matching ?

I drive my dad's old stock 1930's pickup truck sometimes,and it requires double clutching. It's where you hit the clutch once and put the shifter in neutral, release the clutch, then depress the clutch again, hit the gas real quick and put it in the next gear. It's a technique use for shifting transmissions that dont have synchronizers. Somebody jump in if I'm wrong.

he's correct about doing it with cars that do not have synchros..hince semi's...you push clutch in...put car in neutral...release clutch.rev to the right rpm...push clutch back in...switch to next gear...realease clutch...

the reason you let off the clutch in Neutral is to get the tranny rotating to the speed of the engine.

Exactly, which is why you need to dbl clutch upshifting, and downshifting the same, but you have to rev the motor to match the rpm's or it will never go in gear..
