Default 98 and 01 6speeds

I was wondering if the parts out of a 98 6 speed could interchange with a 01 speed. Reason for asking is the 98 trans has borg warner on it and mine has tremec on it. I know tremec bought borg warner, but i didnt if know they changed anything afterwards? Thanks.

If you look closely, your 01 will say Borg Warner on it too. Theyre the same trans, and personally I would rather have the one that is newer.

I agree, they are the same, but I think the newer ones got better synchro's and something else though.

newer has carbon blocker rings, older has paper fiber. Tremec bought out Borg Warner, but the design is the same, the newer should say Tremec on the case

The internals are the exact same . They will interchange with each other as long they are Ls1 units . The Lt1 units are different up front .

There was some problems with the 02 models with alignment with the main shaft, which caused some problems. Not sure if the 01's had the same problem

That is the fruit of some ones dream. There were no" mainshaft alignment" issues - ever.
