Changing for an auto to a 6-speed
I was wondering how much trouble(and money) it would cost to change a WS6 or an SS from an auto to a manual? The reason I ask is I found an SS and a WS6 that are perfect, except they are auto's. If it is too much trouble I think I'll just keep looking.
Thanks,
Caylon

there's a sticky
also depends on what you look at... a tranny alone can be like 750-3000 big ones
Clutch, Hydraulics, Bell housing, Shifter, Counsel, Computer Flash, Gears/Rear to make it quick enough and several other things are money
i figured for me about 5 grand that w/ a performance built trans, for all the parts...mayb 4 ish for stock tranny w/ few-no miles on it

I converted my '00 WS6 at 40,000 miles when the 4L60E blew (I road race it ... plus daily driver). It's a big job if you don't already kind of know what you're doing. There's the obvious mechanical parts swaps plus you have to do a fair amount of electrical work.
If you have to ask the question ... about what's involved (no disrespect intended)... You're likely better off buying a 6-speed in the first place (plus, it will lower the value of the car ... to do the swap).
Good luck

Cost me 800 for the tranny and pedals, 600 for the clutch kit and hydrolics. My advise would be to try and find a good deal on a m6 but if a great deal on an auto comes along, don't be afraid to swap it.
You still have your 2.73's it says, how slow does that thing pic up? what kinda top end you get?3

just buy an M6. i bought my 01 z a year ago with the intention to convert it to M6 but just ended up buying M6 t/a. it would've been tons o cash and an even bigger pita. if u get an auto just throw some gears and a huge stall and it will be a sick strip car.
