Default 1st gear ???s

Sometimes when I come to a stop and go to put it into first gear, it feels like their is somekind of lockout on it, like I can feel right where it stops the shifter from moving further. When this happens it has the same effect on 2nd gear while still allowing me to shift freely into 3&4. I end up having to just muscle it through the stoppage and it makes one bang and a real shitty feeling in the shifter, not even sure i'm in gear sometimes, but it goes in and then afterwards everythings fine.

Thanks for any advice, I just want to fix my transmission if somethings wrong cause it feels and sounds like crap shifting.

Most of the time the gear train is floating when that happens . It might need syncros but it probably needs to be reshimmed as well . I would suggest upgrading to a steel shift fork if you have someone build it for you .

Mine feels the same way sometimes, the owners manual says to let the clutch out and put the shifter back in neutral and try again. Helps most of the time.

I'll try that the next time it does it, but if I have to do that every time it could be pretty bothersome...

Maybe I should just upgrade my synchros and forks, how much would a good transmission build run me?

Hmmm... bring this back alive..

Mine is having a problem right now as well. Sometimes I cant get into 1st when at a light for the life of me so I take off in 2nd. The tranny is a BRAND NEW Viper Spec T56 and the clutch is a brand new Spec3 and flywheel. Not sure whats going on. Every gear is starting to feel a little notchy.
