Default Leaking Fluid From T56 question.....

Hello,

I am leaking fluid out of the bottom of the transmission through the little space where you can sneak a peak at the clutch. This is from a 00 TA 6 spd.

My question is what could be the cause and is it something simple like a seal or possibly the shaft bearing???? My clutch engages/disengages just fine and the fluid is red colored so I am assuming that the problem lies in the transmission itself.

Any input is greatly appreciated. I am going to take the transmission out soon and am curious if I ABSOLUTELY must replace the tranny or simply put in a new seal....

Thanks!

How many miles are on the car? It's most likely the input shaft seal. Hopefully the seal is just worn out and something in the tranny, maybe the input shaft bearings, are bad and caused the seal to go out.
