Default Spec F Disk issues

There are a few of us running the Spec F disk setups on S3 and S4 clutches. There have also been a few problems with the disk welding itself to the flywheel. I had to pull the trans this week and beat the disk off the flywheel.

I have talked to Spec a lot this week on the problem and have some information to share.

First off, I would like to thank Daniel and the owner of Spec for the time they spent with me resolving the issue. It has been reslved in a very professional manner. Spec stood behind their product and kept me as a happy customer. I commend them for this.

The issue is that the F disk is far more aggressive than anyone thought. It takes a longer breakin period for the disk, FW, and PP to seat. The recommended breakin mileage is no longer 500, but closer to 1000 miles. In addition, we need to make several light passes at the track to finish seating the disk. To do this, go around the water box and launch light. Make a full pass and let the car cool. Repeat a few more times.

I should have my car back together next week and will start the breakin process all over again. I will keep you posted on the results.

I have a 3F along with a Fidanza aluminum flywheel waiting to go in...will these issues be any different when going with an aluminum flywheel?
