Default flywheel

Which is better steel or aluminium (m6)? What is the advantage of one over the other?

if you have transbrake or clutch dumps... the aluminum will go out on a hi HP car. you can buy an aftermarket aluminum that will hold. i prefer steel if you have huge power and a heavy car.
bolt on or a cam car, the stock aluminum should be fine.

the lighter aluminum will rev more freely but requires a little more throttle when launching, where the steel will launch the car with ease but a little less revvy. this is because of the weight of each and the rotating mass.

the lighter the flywheel, the quicker it will rev, hince there have been hp gains from 5-10 hp with a lightweight flywheel, but i would just reccomend resurfacing your factory unit if its in decent shape, it's very very cheaper, and i know people running spec stg-5 clutches with stock flywheel pulling the wheels up, so its up to you...

I just purchased a mcleod street twin with an aluminium flywheel. I was just wondering what the advantages were. i am pretty sure that there will be a difference in shifting due less mass in the flywheel.

I bought a SLP billet steel flywheel. Main reason is I had to have one balanced and I had safety in mind
