Shift forks I bought a rebuilt transmission off ebay about 2 years ago. I just got my project completed so this was the first time I got to check it out.
I only have 1st and reverse. First gear is where reverse should be and all the other shifter locations give me reverse.
Whats the problem? Shift forks put together wrong?

If its a corvette box and you are shifting via the front rail, there is no shifter o it and thats why the gates are backwards abd reversed. It sounds like its locked in reverse. Are you sure you have first

Yep I have first, when I shift into reverse. I thought of that regarding the corvette box but it has the F-body lock out and doesn't have a front shift rod. Still I'm going to take the trans to Rockland Gear and have them take a look at it.
If it was a corvette box shifting from the rear would I have some other gears besides 1st & reverse?

Well I spoke to George at Rockland gear and he has never heard of that one. He said even if it was a vette box the shift pattern would be the same if shifted from the rear. He thinks something is broke.
I'll let everyone know when he tears it down. I'm going to upgrade all the internals at the same time.
