Default Clutch or Tranny?

Went to the track on Friday night, now I grind a little coming out of 4th into 5th. Is this a clutch or a tranny problem? I am thinking clutch because my car has no problem pulling in 5th, just a little grind when I go from 4th to 5th. Do you think I should have it warranteed?

Sounds like a tranny problem to me. Maybe a synchro. Usually if it was the clutch it would happen in every gear since the clutch is used in every gear. Since it's only from 4-5 then I would think it's the 4-5 synchro that's taken a dive. Take it in under warranty

Is this a one-day job at the dealer or do I need to plan on two or more days?

That I'm not sure of. I dont know if the dealership rebuilds them themselves or sends them out. But If i had to guess it's more than a 1 day job. They should give you a rental car though if you're over 21 so no worries.

Is there anything I should do to the car before taking it to the dealer to have it checked out? Are there ways to tell if I have been to the track? I use the car as a daily driver, but are there places I need to clean to 'remove the evidence'? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">
