Installed skip shift - now can't get reverse! WTF! I did just like the instructions said installing my CAGS eliminator and now, it still makes me go to 4th from 1st and it is VERY difficult to get reverse! I plugged it into the only solenoid I could find. It was on the drivers' side of the transmission up high. What now? Thanks in advance. The Josh |
if you did it on the driver side very top(next to shifter tower), that is the reverse lockout solonoid!!! the one plug right below it is for speedo. the one is on the driver side middle of tranny that is like 45 degreed point it down, that is the skip shift |
sounds like you installed it on the wrong spot. www.installuniversity.com has good pics. |
Now I feel like an idiot. Tell me, I didn't screw up my car by installing this wrong, did I? I am gonna git 'er done this week. Thanks The Josh |
You're not an idiot, but you gotta admit, that's pretty funny. :jest: You just invented the !reverse! ROFLMAO :jest: :jest: :jest: |
My next door neighbor was trying to hook up the backup lights on his '70 vette with a t56 and wired it to the reverse lockout instead. He installed a new shifter at the same time, so he thought he screwed up the shifter install. Needless to say, he was happy to find out it was a simple wiring problem. |
All you have to do is put the resistor in the right plug and your car will be fine. |
:( yup I did the reverse delete once too. oh the shame. |
yup up high on the tranny on the drivers side is the reverse lockout. |
I remember looking and not seeing any other solenoid connectors on the tranny. I am going to look again though when i get it to a shop and up on the lift. The instructions said it was a blue and white connector. Well, the reverse lockout is also blue and white. WTF? Needs to be better color coded... The Josh |
