Default Intermittent shift into 3rd grind..help!

OK, while shifting under load (driving) SOMETIMES when I shift into 3rd it does a quick grind then goes into gear. Other times it goes in fine, More times than others it does this @ high RPM but it does it at low RPM too sometimes.....think its the synchro?

Flush/bleed the clutch system. You've probably melted some rubber and that's the black you're seeing in the fluid. If it's only 3rd gear it's probably a synchro, but try some high RPM shifts in other gears after you flush and bleed the system.

If you keep driving it you'll make it worse and almost guaranteed will need to replace 3rd gear. New synchro assembly should be about $150 on the high end. What'll get you is labor if you're not gonna pull the trans yourself. Lots of people do the internal work themselves, personally there's too many moving parts in there and the removal/intall is too much of a pain the *** for me to do the stuff myself and have to take the trans back out to fix something. I pulled the trans and had my internals done at a shop then threw it back in.

In the mean time skip 3rd gear when you shift. go 1->4 or 2->4 until you get it fixed.
