having T56 problems on a 99 Z28
I bought my wife a 99 Z28 last week and have been doing some work to it. When I first drove it, the trans shifted great, now I added the factory hurst, and it still was fine. Then it went to my friends shop and he changed the trans fluid for me (mobil 1 ATF), now the car is hard as hell to put in reverse and 1st gear when cold. If it warms up it seems ok. ANy ideas on this? I have a 97 TA WS6 and that trans is the same when cold, or warm. My 05 vette sometimes is sticky too, but this thing is a bit too much.

now I'm also reading that these 99 transmissions shouldn't have synthetic. Can that be my problem. Thats really all that is different. It just seems weird since my 97 TA WS6 has had redline synthetic for over 7 years and is perfect.

Mobil 1 ATF is not your problem. Sure some synthetics attack the paper lined blockers but Mobil 1 is ok. It is a little thicker and maybe you have too much in there but I don't see this being a major shift problem that clears when warm.I stick with the release being incomplete.

Release is easy to check, put the car in 1st gear and push the pedal down, slowly rev the engine while holding pedal down. Slowly rev it to about 5500 and if the car lurks forward at all the clutch is not disegaging fully.

Automatic, no way......I have a 97 WS6 ta (6-speed), a 2005 Vette (6-speed),and this is my girl's car, she insisted on the 6-speed, guess I rubbed off.....
I trying the vac. bleed and it definitely seems better, but still not like my other cars. Guess maybe the slave and master will need to be updated in the future......
